Have been moaning about how hot it is, how tired I am, how I am craving sugar etc. I have slowed right down and everything I do is seated - so it's time to move it or lose it. I now officially have 'Painters butt'. My get up and go - got up and went ...

On the artwork side of things I have almost completed the illustration and the fruit artwork. I can't show much as they form part of the final diploma portfolio - the exams at the end of all the assignments. We have to complete three final artworks and send them together to London to be assessed for our final grades. My fruit of choice is the Quandong and later I'll tell you about this unique fruit from my home state. It's pretty tiring to work at this rate but I love to play music while I work - classical for the fine detail and loud uplifting stuff for pretty much everything else. Keeps me moving in my chair at least.

Feeling inspired by my friends all taking the initiative to get up and get going. Manon in Quebec is working hard at the gym, Jacqui in Albany also - along with endless walks with her poodle, Denise in Hong Kong is travelling the world and hitting the hotel gyms, Alena in London does trapeze and also climbing walls (that begs a pun) - and me, well I sit, stand, walk and recline. My excuse - too hot in summer but basically lazy - sad isn't it.

If only my body was as active as my mind - I'd be in top shape. Really it starts with a thought so I have decided at least to do something every day - no matter how small. My husband very kindly put a ficus tree in front of the treadmill so I felt like I was amongst nature - and to top it off, it has fairy lights at night!
You see the French have it all right - in the regions we visited they chose the best produce from local growers and the food was absolute quality - to top it off we walked so much we could even indulge in all those treats .... mmmm. I couldn't believe I had lost weight when I returned home!
I love to walk - and even if it's on my trusty treadmill at least I'm moving. I can daydream about the next holiday and the delicious food, knowing if I keep active I can enjoy it guilt free. So here's to getting in shape and preparing for the next travels ... healthy food and lots of moving.
Playing on my treadmill Ipod - I dare you not to move:
GOOD GIRL!!!!

DeleteQuality ingredients, beautiful food, and walking... yes indeed - the French do have it right! (But you know they've taken on some of the dreadful American habits.)
ReplyDeleteI understand about painter's butt. (Writers deal with a similar challenge. All the more reason for a 20 minute walk as many days as I can possibly manage it.)
Love the ficus by the treadmill! (It's winter here and cold and dark early. Maybe I'll chase myself in circles in my living room?) :)
Any movement helps BLW - my problem was being a little toooo sedentary.
DeleteWriters' butt is similar but at least you can lay down and type on a laptop to give it a break :)
Painters butt? Too funny.
ReplyDeleteLove the ficus trees - and fairy lights at night? I think I'd walk toward them to my dreams. And we've had that conversation over at my place - how the walking can save us from European food indulgence butts upon our return home.
Your French treats are beautiful. And as always - your paintings. I look forward to hearing more of the Quandong - news to me. ??
Thanks for commenting Barb ... more paintings coming :)
DeleteHave you tried the art programmes in the ipad in front of the treadmill yet? ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea Katherine! Might keep me on there a bit longer ..
